Green Smoothie

This Green Smoothie might not look nice but it taste great and healthy. It contains vitamins from Avocado and antioxidants from green tea.

Ingredients:
2 avocado
1/2 tsp green tea powder
1 1/2 tbsp pure honey
1 1/2 tbsp chocolate syrup (or 3 tbsp milo powder)
80ml* cold water

To do it, you can use blender machine to have a soft and smooth avocado, or by hand to crunch it. As I love avocado and I want the texture of the avocado, I'm mashed the avocado in a glass together with the green tea powder.

Once you get the desire texture of the avocado, put the honey together and mix it with water.

Put ice cubes to make it colder. Once done, serve it with chocolate syrup (or milo powder) on top.

*the amount of water is just for guideline to enjoy the taste of my smoothie drink. Please add more water if you want.

Enjoy and stay healthy.

Hatter Street

I was just visited a newly open desserts shop named Hatter Street. Located just 5 minutes walk from Kovan Mrt station, at Hougang street 21. The small shop with Alice The Wonderland theme gives you a very relax and animated ambiance while enjoying their desserts.

Trying their signature 'Whoa'ffles ice cream and it is more than just a waffle. I personally loves their Pandan ice cream with Gula Melaka waffles (SGD 8.90), which I order an additional 1 scoop of Pandan Ice cream (SGD 2).

Equally comparable, their Homemade Chocolate Ice cream with chocolate sauce waffles gives you a total different taste from the pandan one. Accompany with A&W float drink (SGD 4.50) it gives you a fresh taste after your waffle munch.

Visit their store at;
HATTER STREET
Blk 212 Hougang Street 21 #01-333 (s)530212
Open Tuesday to Sunday (close on Monday)
10am to 10pm.

True Fact about Greens

I feel this article is really good for some people understanding of how important GREEN VEGETABLE in our daily life. That's why i repost this some of the article.

Some basic understanding about our own body, Blood and Nutrition. We have 5 liters of the blood and our heart beats 100,000 times a day and pumps 2.5 ounces of blood each beat which equals about 8 tons each day. Our red blood cells deliver oxygen and remove waste. Our RBC's also transform to body cells and make up our tissue, organs, etc.

We make 2-4 million new blood cells and 13 million new body cells every second. Providing our bodies with plant foods is the most important factor in building healthy blood. Getting a concentrated GREENS product helps this process. Everything you eat or drink goes into the digestive system and ends up in the small intestines. Blood production begins within the intestines. Within the intestines exists the intestinal villas. Think of the intestinal villus as the root system to the body, just like plants with roots that absorb nutrients. The root system of plants are like the intestinal track of plants.

Blood vessels and lactiles run through the intestinal villas. The lactiles absorb fat. Fats are used in the formation of the erythroblasts as well to make cell membranes. The area space is 7,200 square feet or 1/3 of a football field.

The River of Life and Death begins in the small intestine! Intestinal Villus is like an amoeba. Digested food goes into the villus. Villus takes the digested food into its structure, assimilates and finally transforms it into an erythroblast which then become a red blood cells.

Why Do Vegetarians Always Look So Unhealthy?
Most Vegetarians do not follow an Acid/Alkaline understanding when it comes to diet. Often vegetarian diets consist of large amounts of overly cooked vegetables, processed meat substitutes and other prepackaged foods. They also consume more grains, rice, flours, simple carbohydrates, sugar, high sugar fruits, dairy products, etc. rather than living vegetables, low sugar fruits, and high energy green foods.

The truth is vegetables and low sugar fruits contain a wide array of essential minerals and nutrients. However, the depletion of minerals and nutrients in today's soil makes a concentrated greens product a necessary supplement for everyone. You can get all the nutrients you need from just your vegetables anymore.

The key ingredients of greens product should be green leafy vegetables and grasses. All green leafy vegetables and grasses are high in calcium, iron, magnesium, vitamin C, and many of the B vitamins.

People need Healthy Blood to build Healthy Muscle. Here are some percentage of calories found in vegetables that are protein.
  • Spinach 49%
  • Broccoli 47%
  • Green Leafy Lettuce 42%
  • Kale 40%
  • Alfalfa Sprouts 40%
  • Green Peas 30%
  • Zucchini 26%
  • Wheat Grass 25%
  • Cucumbers 20%
  • Garlic 20%
  • Bell Peppers 20%
  • Tomatoes 18%
  • Avocado 15%
  • Lemons 13%

Also when it comes to protein needs there are many factors that are overlooked. the body has a constantly changing, free amino acid pool derived from body sources as cells disorganize providing raw materials for protein complexes. this pool contributes about 70g of protein daily. The idea that you have to eat all the essential amino acids simultaneously is erroneous.

Some benefits of Greens
  • a good greens product focuses on delicate, immature green plants that offer more energy and nutrients and are nutritionally different from mature grains.
  • These greens are incredibly nutrient-dense and contain nutrient profiles similar to the most nutrious park green leafy vegetables
  • green are nutrient-rich food and source of "good-fats"
  • Green helps lower cholesterol levels and supports healthy cholesterol levels already within a normal range
  • green increases absorption of carotenoids and nutrients
  • Green are natural sources and powerful health-protective of phytonutrients
  • Green help protect against cell damage
  • Green stimulate body enzymes to detoxify carcinogens
  • Green modulate the body's metabolism of hormones
  • Green contain aromatic herbs that provide soothing actions and digestive benefits
  • Green combat free radicals and help counter cell damage with antioxidants
  • Green enhance immunity and protect cells with chlorophyll
  • Green enhance vitality and provide nutrition
  • Green harnesses the power of the sun
  • Green provides an alkalizing formula hydrates and detoxifies the body

2014

New Year always come with New Resolutions. But before that, i just realized i didn't make any resolutions for 2013. Lemme review my last last year 2012 New Year Resolutions to see whether is there any achievement or any improvement in 2013.

1. Every time i eat, half of my plate must be Vegetable
well, i almost full achieve this, however some of the time i can feel guilty while having birthday dinner, some gathering or even seafood buffet. will improve on this definitely.

2. Manage my stress Better
well, i can said that i've achieved this resolution. Changing job to the one that i love, makes me stress-free by a lot. being a cabin crew making me happier, and even more adventurous. Participate in Pocari Sweat Marathon and Standard Chartered Marathon, and some regular Run. Yeah...

3. Will Workout at least 30 min, 3 times a week
to be honest with you, for the past year, i always gym for at least 30 minutes, however, it is definitely less than 3 times a week. so, Need to improve on this.

4. Less Insomnia, Sleep Better
hmmm..., Due to my job scope up in the air, it makes (or i can said force me) to be awake overnight to make sure customer safety is in a good hand at all time. But i always tried to have a good sleep one i landed in outstation.

5. Pampered myself more
i can said that i am well pampered this few years. especially my regular facial treatment that makes become ME right now. and also been to some massage and foot reflexology in Singapore or even in China.

6. Do More Good Things and Pray More
I've been doing things without expecting anything in return. even though sometimes it's hard to accept it, but i let it go most of the time. do it with huge gratitude. However, i feel guilty that i pray lesser than i expected, way way lesser than usual. Need to go to temple more often.

7. More socialized
Been improving on this definitely. making more new friends, meet more people, and one of the good thing is to install INSTAGRAM in my phone. lolz.

Photo taken at KPE tunner, Singapore.
Okay, for now, lemme make new and better resolutions for this coming Year of Horse 2014 (as always) for the better year ahead. After reviewing my past resolutions and achievement, definitely i need to focus and improve more on some of the area, even though it's still a loooooong way to go before i become successful in the future.

People said, "Do Enjoy The Process Rather Than The Focusing On The Goal". And i think this is rather true because you will achieve your goal with the small steps that you take. So, you have to know what steps you take, and understand which steps that leads you to the TOP.

1. Read More Books
This will a good choice to improve my English, get more knowledge, be more positive person, and without wasting my time during my daily life; train ride to airport, bus ride to hotel while overseas, or even been bored at home during off days. I received some books from my previous job, from friends, and even the book that i bought from book store, and will definitely dig-out my mini library to find those books, which book that good to read, And i must finish the book.

2. Healthy Food
I've been eating with No control for the past few months. Living in an oily-and-MSG-food's country, i believe there will be a way to have a healthy lifestyle. I bought Natural Black Chia Seed from Woolworths Australia that pack with high dietary fibre, antioxidant and omega 3, that might help me to stay healthy in my diet program. HERE are some fact about Chia Seed. Also, always encouraging myself to Eat Green and Drink Green.

However, i should eat more Natural Food rather than organic or artificially made. I read some of the Journal regarding Organic Food, pro and cons from the public review/comments, however, prevention is always better than Cure. Why not go Natural, and that's exactly what i will eat.

3. Healthy Lifestyle
lazy is not a good way to enjoy life apparently. so i will give myself more time to do more healthy lifestyle such as Run more, gym more, buy yoga pad to workout at home, join friends for swimming activity and also participate in some marathon event. or even (maybe) buy my own workout equipment so i can do it more regularly at my own home.

not only healthy in sports, i think i need to have a proper enough sleep as well, due to my irregular working hour and non-flexible meal time. if i have time, i will definitely take a good-solid-deep-nap.

4. Pray More
Not only physically clean from any sickness, people also need to have mentally clear from any bad atmosphere. Pray more of what you believe and always keep your mind clear from any bad spirit and fill it more with positive words.

5. Just ONE More
Whatever i do, i will do More, Just One More.

6. Save
nowadays, i try my best to save at least 10-20% of my monthly salary into my fix savings account (i only use it for emergency or urgent situation), which i only have access through internet most of the time.

Maybank Singapore provide a very attractive savings account with a very attractive interest rate of 3%p.a. (most other bank only give 0.05%p.a.) that is calculated on the daily basis and credited monthly to you. on top of that, iSAVvy Savings account also gives you 6% interest-on-interest for account with average daily balance of SGD$5000 to below SGD$100,000. and even more, 18% interest-on-interest with average daily balance of SGD100,000 to below SGD$200,000. Basically, the more you save, the more you will earn.

Not only save from my salary, i think i need to cut down on what i have spend for the past few years. unnecessary shopping, over-eaten-food, not necessary snacks, so at the same time, i also can save more money without thinking of those.

7. Personal Reward
Other than save 20% of my salary, i think i deserve some personal reward for what I've done for the past or even for the coming year. Travel, leisure, and Family quality time.

We all human, always greedy and not enough of what we've got. Always need more. That is exactly what i feel now. Huge gratitude for the past, expect more rewards in the future. :)

HAPPY NEW YEAR everyone.

How To Avoid Cancer

After years of telling people chemotherapy is the only way to try and eliminate Cancer, Johns Hopkins is finally starting to tell you there is an alternative way...

1. Every person has cancer cells in the body. These cancer cells do not show up in the standard tests until they have multiplied to a few billion. When doctors tell cancer patients that there are no more cancer cells in their bodies after treatment, it just means the tests are unable to detect the cancer cells because they have not reached the detectable size.

2. Cancer cells occur between 6 to more than 10 times in a person's lifetime.

3. When the person's immune system is strong the cancer cells will be destroyed and prevented from multiplying and forming tumors.

4. When a person has cancer it indicates the person has multiple nutritional deficiencies. These could be due to genetic, environmental, food and lifestyle factors.

5. To overcome the multiple nutritional deficiencies, changing diet and including supplements will strengthen the immune system.

6. Chemotherapy involves poisoning the rapidly-growing cancer cells and also destroys rapidly-growing healthy cells in the bone marrow, gastro-intestinal tract etc, and can cause organ damage, like liver, kidneys, heart, lungs, etc.

7. Radiation while destroying cancer cells also burns, scars and damages healthy cells, tissues and organs.

8. Initial treatment with chemotherapy and radiation will often reduce tumor size. however prolonged use of chemotherapy and radiation do not result in more tumor destruction.

9. When the body has too much toxic burden from chemotherapy and radiation the immune system is either compromised or destroyed, hence the person can succumb to various kinds of infections and complications.

10. Chemotherapy and radiation can cause cancer cells to mutate and become resistant and difficult to destroy. Surgery can also cause cancer cells to spread to other sites.

11. An effective way to battle cancer is to STARVE the cancer cells by not feeding it with foods it needs to multiple. What cancer cells feed on:

a. Sugar is a cancer-feeder. By cutting off sugar it cuts off one important food supply to the cancer cells. Note: Sugar substitutes like NutraSweet, Equal, Spoonful, etc are made with Aspartame and it is harmful. A better natural substitute would be Manuka Honey or molasses but only in very small amounts. Table salt has a chemical added to make it white in color. Better alternative is Bragg's aminos or sea salt.

b. Milk cause the body to produce mucus, especially in the gastro-intestinal tract. Cancer feeds on mucus. By cutting off milk and substituting with unsweetened soy milk, cancer cells will starved.

c. Cancer cells thrive in an acid environment. A meat-based diet is acidic and it is best to eat fish, and a little chicken rather than beef or pork. Meat also contains livestock antibiotics, growth hormones and parasites, which are all harmful, especially to people with cancer.

d. A diet made of 80% fresh vegetables and juice, whole grains, seeds, nuts, and a little fruits help put the body into an alkaline environment. About 20% can be from cooked food including beans. Fresh vegetable juices provide live enzymes that are easily absorbed and reach down to cellular levels within 15minutes to nourish and enhance growth of healthy cells.

e. Avoid coffee, tea, and chocolate, which have high caffeine. Green Tea is a better alternative and has cancer-fighting properties. Water-best to drink purified water, or filtered, to avoid known toxins and heavy metals in tap water. Distilled water is acidic, Avoid it.

12. Meat protein is difficult to digest and requires a lot of digestive enzymes. Undigested meat remaining in the intestines will become putrified and leads to more toxic buildup.

13. Cancer cell walls have a tough protein covering. By refraining from or eating less meat it frees more enzymes to attack the protein walls of cancer cells and allows the body's killer cells to destroy the cancer cells.

14. Some supplements build up the immune system (IP6, Flor-ssence, Essiac, Anti-oxidants Vitamins, Minerals, EFAs etc) to enable the body's own killer cell to destroy cancer cells. Other supplements like vitamin E are known to cause apoptosis, or programmed cell death, the body's normal method of disposing of damaged, unwanted, or unneeded cells.

15. Cancer is a disease of the mind, body and spirit. A proactive and positive spirit will help cancer warrior be a survivor. Anger, unforgiving and bitterness put the body into a stressful and acidic environment. Learn to have a loving and forgiving spirit. Learn to relax and enjoy life.

16. Cancer cells cannot thrive in an oxygenated environment. Exercising daily, and deep breathing help to get more oxygen down to the cellular level. Oxygen therapy is another means employed to destroy cancer cells.

Rice

The human body was never meant to consume rice! You see, our genes have hardly changed in more than 30,000 years. However, our food choices and lifestyle have changed dramatically. The caveman would hardly recognize our food or way of life.

Caveman food was never cooked as fire was not yet tamed. Thus, he ate only those foods that he can eat without treatment with or by fire. He ate fruits, vegetables, fish, eggs, nuts and meat. Yes, even meat. You can even eat meat raw if you were starving in the forest. You have the necessary enzymes to digest meat.

However, rice - like wheat and corn - cannot be eaten raw. It must be cooked. Even if you were starving in the desert, you cannot eat rice in the raw form. This is because we do not have the system of enzymes to break rice down. We were never meant to eat rice. To make matters worse, we not only eat rice, but also make it the bulk of our food.

In some parts of Asia, rice forms up to 85% of the plate. Even if we take rice, let's keep it to a minimum. Remember, it is only for our tongue... not our body. Actually, rice and other grains like wheat and corn are actually worse than sugar. There are many reasons:

Rice becomes sugar - lots of it!
This is a fact that no nutritionist can deny: rice is chemically no different form sugar. One bowl of cooked rice is the caloric equivalent of 10 teaspoons of sugar. This does not matter whether the rice is white, brown or herbal rice. Brown rice is richer in fibre, some B vitamins and minerals... but it is still the caloric equal of 10 teaspoons of sugar. To get the same 10 teaspoons of sugar, we need to consume lots of kangkong... 10 bowls of it.

Rice is digested to become sugar.
Rice can be digested only when it is thoroughly cooked. However, when thoroughly cooked, it becomes sugar and spikes circulating blood sugar within half an hour... almost as quickly as it would if we took a sugar candy. Rice is very low in the "rainbow of anti-oxidants" .This complete anti-oxidant rainbow is necessary for the effective and
safe utilization of sugar. Fruits come with a sugar called fructose. However, they are not empty calories as the fruit is packed with a whole host of other nutrients that help its proper assimilation and digestion.

Rice has no fibre.
The fiber of the kangkong fills us up long before our blood sugar spikes. This is because the fibre bulks and fills up our stomach. Since white rice has no fibre, we end up eating lots of "calorie dense" food before we get filled up. Brown rice has more fibre but still contains the same amount of sugar.

Rice is tasteless.
Sugar is sweet. There is only so much that we can eat at one sitting. How many teaspoons of sugar can we eat before we feel like throwing up? Could you imagine eating 10 teaspoons of sugar in one seating?

Rice is always the main part of the meal.
While sugar may fill our dessert or sweeten our coffee, it will never be the main part of any meal. We could eat maybe two to three teaspoons of sugar at one meal. However, we could easily eat the equal value of two to three bowls (20 - 30 teaspoons) of sugar in one meal. I am always amused when I see someone eat sometimes five bowls of rice (equals 50 teaspoons of sugar) and then ask for tea or coffee without sugar!

There is no real "built in" mechanism for us to prevent over-eating of rice. How much kangkong can we eat? How much fried chicken? How much steamed fish? Think about that! In one seating, we cannot take lots of chicken, fish or cucumber, but we can take lots of rice. Eating rice causes us to eat more salt.

As rice is tasteless, we tend to consume more salt... another villain when it comes to high blood pressure control. We tend to take more curry that has salt to help flavor the rice. We also tend to consume more ketchup and soy sauce which are also rich in salt.

Eating rice causes us to drink less water.
The more rice we eat, the less water we will drink as there is no mechanism to prevent the over-eating of rice. Rice, wheat and corn come hidden in our daily food. As rice is tasteless, it tends to end up in other foods that serve as rice substitutes. .. like rice flour, noodles and bread. We tend to eat the hidden forms which still get digested
into sugar. Rice, even when cooked, is difficult to digest.

Can't eat raw rice? Try eating rice half cooked. Contrary to popular belief, rice is very difficult to digest. It is "heavy stuff". If you have problems with digestion, try skipping rice for a few days. You will be amazed at how the problem will just go away.

Rice prevents the absorption of several vitamins and minerals. Rice when taken in bulk will reduce the absorption of vital nutrients like zinc, iron and the B vitamins.

Are you a rice addict?
Going rice less may not be easy, but we can still go rice less. Eating ess rice could be a lot easier than we think. Here are some strategies that we can pursue in our quest to eat less rice:

1. Eat less rice - Cut your rice by half. Barry Sears, author of the Zone Diet, advises "eating rice like spice". Instead, increase your fruits & vegetables intake.

2. Take more lean meats and fish.

3. You can even take more eggs and nuts. Have "rice less" meals. Take no
rice or wheat at say, breakfast. Go for eggs instead.

4. Go on "rice less" days - Go "western" once a week. Take no rice and breads for one day every week! That can't be too difficult. Appreciate the richness of your food. Go for taste, colors and smells. Make eating a culinary delight. Enjoy your food in the original flavors.

5. Avoid the salt shaker or ketchup. You will automatically eat less rice.

6. Eat your fruit dessert before your meals. The fibre-rich fruits will "bulk up" in your stomach. Thus, you will eat less rice and more fruits.

OUR WATER AFTER EACH MEAL

For those who like to drink cold water, this article is applicable to you. It says it is nice to have a cup of cold drink after a meal. However, the cold water will solidify the oily stuff that you have just consumed.

It will slow down the digestion. Once this "sludge" reacts with the acid, it will break down and be absorbed by the intestine faster than the solid food. It will line the intestine! Very soon, this will turn into fats and lead to cancer.

It is best to drink hot soup or warm water after a meal.

More Chocolate, Lower your weight

We all already know that dark chocolate may be beneficial for lowering blood pressure and blood sugar levels, but recent research has also put forward evidence to suggest that increasing your chocolate intake may also help with weight loss!

A recent study published in the March 26 issue of the Archives of Internal Medicine by associate professor Beatrice A. Golomb and colleagues showed that frequent chocolate consumption was associated with lower BMI (Body Mass Index), even after adjusting for calorie intake, saturated fat intake and mood.

The cross-sectional study asked 1017 participants how many times a week they consumed chocolate, and how much, then performed analyses with and without adjustment for age, sex, calorie intake, saturated fat intake, fruit & vegetable intake, and mood (using a scale for measuring depression).

The results showed, surprisingly, that increased frequency of chocolate consumption was associated with a lower BMI, while the amount of chocolate consumed was not. The results were consistent even after adjustments for age and sex, as well as for calories, saturated fats, and depression.

The study is intriguing on many levels. Firstly, you will expect people who take more chocolate to also consume more calories, saturated fats, and be more depressed (which is exactly what the authors found). Secondly, many chocolate products are also high in sugar, fat, and calories. These 2 factors alone should logically point to a result which shows that increased chocolate intake is increased with higher, rather than lower BMI.

Thirdly, the association between chocolate and BMI was found only with how frequently the participants consumed chocolate, but not how much they consumed.

Of course, there are limitations to this study - it was a cross-sectional one. More rigorous randomized controlled trials studying the metabolic benefits of chocolate in humans may be warranted. But while we await the results of the conclusive studies with bated breath, I will head to the supermarket later to pick up a box of dark chocolate. Remember its the frequency of consumption which is important, so eat a little everyday - do not go on a chocolate buffet! Also choose the dark chocolate varieties - these contain less sugar and fat, and a higher concentration of the good stuff!

Ebisboshi Shotengai Restaurant @ Iluma

As always, my starting line is "been while since my last post". lol...... okay, a short story about me and my neighbor. since Iluma open until now, i never been there for shop or eat, where the building is exactly beside my block. only for pass by bcoz got overhead bridge there Plus Aircon. so i won't sweat when i walk to mrt or bus stop. lol..... but yesterday, after long day of work in the office, i went to a Japanese Restaurant named Ebiboshi Shotengai at the 4th floor in the Iluma there.

At first, i saw quite numbers of people queuing-up there and quite alot of people inside having their dinner as well. so, i decided to went there and had my dinner before movie (The Jones Theory). The restaurant have the same concept with Waraku at The Heeren, but, the technology is much much more advance. Yes both is "self-service" system, but Ebisboshi used the real "self-service" technology without going to the booth. What do i mean by that?

They have the technology, which i called "Wireless Bar-code Detector System". This device design as a pen (as shown in the picture beside), whereby you can scan into selected bar-code provided at the item that you wish to order. But it's quite big and thick though. oh well, and after you confirm your item, the device will automatically send your order to the kitchen straight away. in this case, the waiters will not wait for you and ask "you want to order already?" or "any drink first?" but they will come to your table and pass u the confirm item that you send to the kitchen. pretty cool huh..........

And the good thing about this Device, they provide you a voice system whereby you can listen to the item that you order to prevent wrong item or bar-code. And they also have Volume bar-code in case you a bit deaf like me. haha......

well, give it a try. The food is quite nice. but abit pricy i think. but i like the ambiance. keep it up.......
