Gary Barlow - Sing

It was announced in January that six time Ivor Novello recipient Gary Barlow and Andrew, Lord Lloyd-Webber would be working together to write the official Diamond Jubilee single. Barlow travelled himself to villages and countries from across the Caribbean, Africa, the Pacific Islands and Australasia - The Commonwealth looking for musicians, singers and contributors and begin writing the lyrics and producing the song. "This is probably the biggest challenge I've ever taken on musically. I'm so excited and thrilled to be a part of it." said Barlow. Lloyd Webber echoed these views and stated that "It is a huge honour to be involved in this historic occasion and I am looking forward very much to working with Gary."

The inspiration and lyrics came from his first visit to a village in Kenya, a place where Princess Elizabeth had been visiting during her holiday, when she was told that her father King George VI had died and that she had ascended to the throne at the same time. "She started her reign there and we started our record in that place" and it was fitting that the song would return to those origins. The final record features more than two-hundred singers and musicians, including the Military Wives with Gareth Malone and musicians from around the Commonwealth including the Sydney Symphony Orchestra, a Kenyan Girls Choir, Geoffrey Gurrumul Yunupingu, and even HRH Prince Harry playing tambourine when Gary met up with Harry in Jamaica.

Yesterday BBC.UK stated Gary Barlow has topped the UK single and album chart with his tracks inspired by the Queen's Diamond Jubilee, which is conveniently entitled 'Sing'. it clearly delivers a message that singing make a world without boundaries. What a wonderful man Gary Barlow. A person whom I greatly admire and respect.

Some words they can’t be spoken only sung
So hear a thousand voices shouting love

There’s a place, there’s a time

In this life when you sing what you are feeling
Find your feet, stand your ground
Don’t you see
Right now the world is listening to what we say

Sing it louder, sing it clearer

Knowing everyone will hear you
Make some noise, find your voice tonight
Sing it stronger, sing together
Make this moment last forever
Old and young
Shouting love tonight

To sing we’ve had a lifetime to wait

And see a thousand faces celebrate

You brought hope, you brought light

Conquered fear, know it wasn’t always easy
Stood your ground, kept your faith
Don’t you see
Right now the world is listening to what we say

Sing it louder, sing it clearer

Knowing everyone will hear you
Make some noise, find your voice tonight
Sing it stronger, sing together
Make this moment last forever
Old and young
Shouting love tonight

Some words they can’t be spoken only sung

To hear a thousand voices shouting love
And light and hope

Just sing

Just sing
Just sing
Just sing  (Come all and sing)
Sing it louder, sing it clearer

Knowing everyone will hear you
Make some noise, find your voice tonight
Sing it stronger, sing together
Make this moment last forever
Old and young
Shouting love tonight

Hear a thousand voices shouting love
